I Was There (At The Coronation) - Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain
Our rehearsal of George Browne (aka Young Tiger)’s wonderful song, recorded backstage at the Sage, Gateshead June 3rd 2012. George Browne was a Trinidadian Calypso musician who lived in London. He had a hit with this song at the time, and died in 2007. Between the Scylla of over-enthusiastic patriotism and the Charybdis of the anti-establishment punk perspective, we thought this song was a delightful and groovy piece of social history.
