Rishi Sunak declared “now is the moment for Britain to choose its future” as he announced the general election will be held on July 4. Speaking in Downing Street in the pouring rain this afternoon, a soaked Mr Sunak vowed to “fight for every vote” as he pitched the election as a direct battle between him and Sir Keir Starmer.
