The Home Secretary announces ‘good’ news; immigration will be reduced to half a million a year

The world of Nineteen Eighty-four is upon us. A few years ago, we were given the good news that immigration would be cut to less than 100 thousand a year. Now, Home Secretary James Cleverly presents us with the good news that immigration is to be cut to 562 thousand a year. Thank goodness so few people in this country still have a functioning memory.
