Glacier Express (GEX), known as the “slowest express train in the world” is a direct eight-hour end-to-end connection between major Swiss mountain resorts of Zermatt and St. Moritz. Operated by a joint-venture between Matterhorn-Gotthard Bahn (MGB) and Rhaetian Bahn (RhB) on the narrow (meter-gauge) railway network in the Swiss central Alps it provides (together with Bernina Express) scenic and exclusive experience. Second part of our trip starts in Brig MGB station, at the beginning point of the original Furka-Oberalp (FO) railway, adjacent to the standard-gauge station of Brig operated by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) at the north portal of Simplon Tunnel connecting Switzerland and Italy since 1906.
