1989 - Orbán Viktor Nagy Imre újratemetésén - Viktor Orbán’s Speech at the Reburial of Imre Nagy

[English below ↓] “Mi úgy véljük: nem tartozunk hálával azért, hogy 31 év után eltemethetjük halottainkat.“ Nagy Imrét és 1956-os mártírtársait, Gimes Miklóst, Maléter Pált, Szilágyi Józsefet és Losonczy Gézát 1989. június 16-án temették újra. A Műcsarnok homlokzatát fekete drapériával vonták be, ez alatt ravatalozták fel jelképesen az elhunytakat. Egy hatodik koporsót is felravataloztak a forradalom során elesett ifjúság tiszteletére. Az ekkor 26 éves Orbán Viktor a Fideszt képviselte 200 ezer ember előtt elmondott beszédével. Ekkor tett szert országos ismertségre. --- “We think that we do not owe any gratitude to anyone for the fact that we can bury our dead after 31 years.“ Imre Nagy and his fellow martyrs of the 1956 revolution, Miklós Gimes, Pál Maléter, József Szilágyi and Géza Losonczy were reburied on June 16th, 1989. The front of the Budapest Hall of Art was covered in black drapery, and under this were the empty caskets symbolically put on display. There was a sixth casket as well, for all the youth that have died during the revolution. Viktor Orbán, 26 years old, represented the Fidesz party with his speech, which he performed in front of an audience of around 200,000.
