However, there was one who sought to take advantage of the darkest moment of his personal life to make a name for himself among the greats of the sport. When this fighter challenged Tyson in his triumphant return to boxing after years without a fight, he sealed his fate to serve as a hard lesson to all who would come after: do not underestimate the youngest heavyweight champion in history. The year was one thousand nine hundred and ninety-five, and rumours were beginning to spread in the corridors of the honourable fight rings that “the beast“, the real knockout machine, was back. But, the announcement of his opponent was an event in itself that needs a little background to understand. It was nineteen ninety-one, and Tyson was coming off of defeating the number two heavyweight contender twice: Donovan “Razor“ Ruddock. Mike was, professionally, in a good place, but he could not boast of being in the same situation in his private life. Shortly after his second win over Ruddock, a blockbuster deal was struck that would see Tyson face undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield. The fight was scheduled to take place on November 8, 1991, but was marked as a false promise. Before the date arrived, Tyson was eventually arrested for raping eighteen-year-old Desiree Washington.
