Laptop destroyed in fire - hard drive still works!

I found this laptop which had been destroyed by a fire in a pile of rubbish in the street. As I thought it looked quite interesting, I took it home with me, and I was amazed to find an intact 320GB hard drive behind the panel at the back! After putting it into an external caddy I was able to access the data, although strangely it wouldn’t boot. I was intending to find the owner and send him his files back, but it turned out there was literally nothing of importance on there as I’m guessing the computer had seen little use.
