Joe Clark Big Band live @ FSC

Fulton Street Collective welcomes the Joe Clark Big Band premier of Two Suites for Jazz Ensemble: GHOST SIGNS and BLACK AND CARDINAL, on Sunday. August 22nd at 8pm. The evening will also feature live painting from visual artist Lewis Achenbach. The Joe Clark Big Band presents the Chicago premieres of two original suites reflecting on social justice and our city’s history: GHOST SIGNS is a jazz requiem based on music that developed in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood with intertextual relationships to liturgy. BLACK AND CARDINAL explores connections between assassinated civil rights leader Fred Hampton and musician Duke Ellington. This project was partially funded by Luminarts and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
