Titles read: “MONTREAL - SHIPS DESPERATE TO ESCAPE ICE“. Montreal, Canada. Various shots show the Transontario ship held fast in rafted ice. Seamen shovel snow from the deck. Captain Zeplien and seaman look out over ice. Men roll barrels of oil into a rope sling. They are taken to the ship by helicopter. Several shots of the helicopter heading out over the ice and dropping the oil barrels. Seamen roll the barrels over the ice and swing them aboard the Transontario. The helicopter returns with another load of barrels. Icebreakers approach. Ice breaker ’NB McLean’ at work, cutting through the ice to clear a path for other ships.
