Save Rubber Trailer (1942)

Titles read: “GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL FILM“. Location of events unknown - somewhere in the English countryside. Actor Basil Radford is seen running along the streets of a village and stealing bits of rubber such as old bicycle and car tyres. He pulls the rubber sole from a tramp’s boot, and yanks a garden hose away from an old man who turns a somersault. Basil is pursued by a crowd of people and when they corner him he explains that he isn’t stealing, but collecting rubber for the war effort. He says now that we’ve lost our main source of rubber supply, we must save every bit we can lay our hands on. He goes on to say rubber is needed for aeroplane wheels, lorries, ambulances, rubber dinghies, Mae West jackets and respirators. He urges the people to all go home and see what they can dig up.
