The Army Has Wings (1942)

Titles read: “THE ARMY HAS WINGS“. Somewhere in Britain. Several good shots of pilots, air landing units and paratroops receiving operational instructions outside a hangar on an airfield. Natural sound as an officer explains their exercise mission, ending with the words “Chaps, get cracking“. Paratroops board a plane. Airborne infantry board large gliders. The planes take off; a Whitley tows a horse glider onto the runway. We see the paratroops drifting down from the planes and landing, then, retrieving their weapons that were dropped separately, they take an imaginary site. The gliders come in to land; the infantry pour out and reinforce the paratroops’ attack with mortar and small arms fire. Good shots of troops in action. Some “ersatz Nazis“ are rounded up to add to the realism of the exercise. M/S of the GOC of the Airborne Division, standing in a field with a few paratroops in the background.
