Soviet Honours British Airmen (1942)

Titles read: “SOVIET HONOURS BRITISH AIRMEN“. Kensington, London. At the Russian Embassy we see the Russian ambassador, Ivan Maisky, presenting the Soviet honour of the Order of Lenin to four British airmen who served with Wing 151 on the Russian Front the previous year. Natural sound as the names of the airmen are announced, but it is quite hard to make out what is being said. C/U of a medal with Lenin’s head engraved on it. Mr Maisky then makes a short speech about his visions for 1942, predicting it will be the turning point for the war. At the end of the speech, Mr Maisky says the official part is over and haltingly asks everyone to proceed to the Winter Gardens to take some refreshment! Brief M/S of the group having luncheon in the Winter Gardens. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
