Rotary Dryer (1954)

No titles. Barnet, Hertfordshire. Good shots of a middle-aged woman hanging washing on an outdoor line on a cloudy day. She looks quite harassed. Cut to a younger woman putting clothing and linen on the rods of a new rotary dryer. She switches the machine on (looks like a top loading tumble dryer) and we see the washing moving around on the rods through the window. The woman goes off to use her rotary ironer - like a sort of heated electric mangle that you feed clothes through so they come out pressed the other side. The woman then starts to unload her dryer. Note: documentation on file includes leaflets on Oprim Drying Machine and Ironer - “Hooray! finished ironing and time to spare“. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
