Ladies’ Day (1942)

Titles read: “LADIES’ DAY“. Maryland, United States of America. Various shots of women at a Maryland arms factory working on a tank and then climbing in and taking it for a test drive on the factory testing grounds. We then see the women testing machine guns as commentator says “many have become so expert that they tried to join up as gunners“. Women crews load and fire anti-aircraft guns in another testing session. One woman puts her hands over her ears as the gun blasts off. This is great footage! The women wear turbans, snoods, helmets and dungarees or overalls. Good for showing women doing traditional men’s jobs during the war. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
