Many A Year Ago. Part of the FROM AD TO BBC issue. Archive film (very scratched) from 1893 shows the fire brigade of New York rushing to the scene of a fire on horse-drawn fire engines. People stand on the street watching them go by and trams / streetcars have stopped to see the spectacle. Brief shot of a fireman leading a horse from a burning building or stable (?). More footage from 1895 shows a man watering a garden with a hose. Two young boys stand on the hose to stop the water supply.
