Sidelights On The Desert War (1942)

Titles read: “SIDELIGHTS ON THE DESERT WAR“. Somewhere in the Middle East. Various shots of a convoy of tanks making their way across the desert. General Grant tanks are prepared for battle by soldiers. Several shots of tanks moving across the desert. Shots of burning German army vehicles and a plane that has been shot down. Explosions in the sand as shells go off nearby; British soldiers fall on the ground to take cover. A German tank explodes. Long lines of Axis prisoners trudge across the desert. Some of the men try to drink from a pool of water, but are driven away by British soldiers. Commentator says “With a stomach-full of that germ-ridden water it’s fatal - they’ve just got to hold on till fresh water is obtainable“. The prisoners march on. (Few seconds of blank spacing.) At a desert aerodrome we see pilots of the Red Air Force getting out of a plane and meeting men of the RAF as part of a goodwill visit. They shake hands and chat. C/U of two airmen shaking hands.
