Planting trees.
Somewhere in the north of England.
Ladies from the land army gather fir cones from felled areas. C/U of a land girl taking the seeds out of the cones for replanting. M/S as they are poured into a sack. The land girls walk along with hoes and shovels, they prepare the beds with good humour. The seeds are put in tins of red lead to keep the birds away. The beds are rolled with a drum which makes drills. Various shots as they are sown by hand. At 12 months they are transplanted and put between boards then replanted so they grow straight. Various shots as other small trees are planted to make the forests. The girls survey their work. Various shots of the trees and girls.
