M/S of comedian Syd Walker pushing a barrow along a London street as part of the British Legion Salvage Campaign. He is collecting old gramophone records. A woman called Nellie gives him a record of “My Wedding Day“. Then Stanley Holloway gives him a record and they have a chat.
Lupino Lane sits listening to an old record of his song ’The Lambeth Walk’ which sounds all scratched and keeps popping. A man sitting with him says he is wearing it out. Lupino asks if he can have it for scrap.
Various shots in a factory show worn and unwanted gramophone records being broken down into dust and remade as new ones. Commentator says “Factories, hospitals and our men in enemy prison camps will profit by the response to this appeal“, as we see boxes of records being addressed to a POW camp in Germany.
