Oil Production Vessel Explodes Off the Coast of Nigeria

The Trinity Spirit, a vessel owned by Nigeria’s SEPCOL and which can store about 2mn barrels of oil, blew up early Wednesday. The blast could prove to be the second major environmental blow to strike Nigeria in the past 3 months after a month-long oil spill hit the Niger Delta last year. The vessel reportedly had 10 crew members on board with no immediate reports of fatalities.
