US Warships and Planes Strike Houthi Targets in Yemen...

The US military has launched significant strikes on the Iranian-backed Houthi rebel group in Yemen, targeting 15 strategic locations. The Pentagon reported that the strikes, carried out by both aircraft and warships, were aimed at protecting freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. Explosions were heard across major Yemeni cities, including the capital, Sanaa. These actions follow a series of Houthi attacks on nearly 100 ships since November, resulting in the sinking of two vessels. The Houthis claim these attacks are retaliation for Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza. The strikes by US forces targeted key Houthi military assets, including weapon systems and bases. The Houthis, in response, reported shooting down a US-made MQ-9 Reaper drone, which the US military later confirmed. As tensions rise, the US, UK, and other nations continue Operation Prosperity Guardian to safeguard Red Sea shipping lanes, underscoring the importance of maintaining peace and security in the region.
