A new virus has jumped from animals to humans in China; the Langya Virus is on the way

Not for the first time, a mysterious virus emerges in China and all the signs are that it will soon be heading towards Europe and the United States. Needless to say, climate change is being blamed for this. Infectious diseases experts have long warned that the climate crisis and the destruction of nature will increase the risk of viruses being transmitted from animals to humans, in events known as “zoonotic spillovers”.
