Military working dogs are able to sniff out coronavirus. This is what the Bundeswehr Service Dog Training Centre in Ulmen has discovered. The dogs can smell cellular metabolic changes rather than the virus itself. They practise using a specially developed testing machine. When one of the four-legged friends recognises the cocktail of scents emitted by SARS-CoV-2, they are rewarded with a treat. It is unclear whether and when the dogs will be deployed in real-life scenarios.
