Restoration of SILVER Dagger - I SAVED it from Vandals!
Hello folks! Today I am restoring a Georgian silver dagger of Caucasian type. The item was made in the late 19th and early 20th century in Eastern Georgia. The blade can be said to be fine, but the scabbard is badly damaged, especially the silver parts. There is no lower part, the upper one is practically broken. I haven’t done this kind of work yet, but I’ll come up with something.
The first duty I took apart the scabbard and tried to restore them, but the difficulty lies elsewhere. If you make new accessories for the scabbard, but you will not be able to apply it to what is left of them. You also need not brass, but silver or nickel silver.
I made a new scabbard and pasted them with thick leather. I took out an old piece of silver with blackening and carving for the dagger handle and an old silver rivet of the same type. The silver was soldered by a jeweler, and I added the missing part to the dagger handle.
