U.S. Influence in the Mediterranean: Why it Still Matters

Hudson Institute will host a discussion on U.S. policy towards the Mediterranean and possible threats to American interests in the region. As Turkey, Russia, Iran, and others vie for the region’s rich natural gas resources, the United States is at risk of losing influence in this era of increasing great power competition. Will the Eastern Mediterranean be the centerpiece of clashing national interests and violence? What can the United States do to promote stability and U.S interests in the region? The panel will address these questions and present viewpoints on the growing tension from countries within the region, drawing on Hudson Institute’s recent report The Eastern Mediterranean in the New Era of Major Power Competition.
