“Over 20,000 Russian Troops Dead...“ | Ukraine Fears Missile Blitz | Bakhmut Defences “Still Strong“

Russian forces carried out a total of 19 missile strikes and 13 air strikes, as well as 13 MLRS attacks on May 1, as per Ukraine. Ukraine repelled more than 30 Russian attacks in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Maryinka areas, as per Ukrinform. The Ukrainian military says it is locked in a “positional struggle” as fierce fighting continues to rage in Bakhmut. Two Canadian volunteer soldiers have been reportedly killed in the battle for Bakhmut. UK’s Defence Ministry has said that Russia has built powerful defence structures along the front line in Ukraine. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) says Putin’s reluctance to appoint a chief for Ukraine’s invasion has had a cascading effect on the war. The US has said that over 20,000 Russian soldiers have been killed and more than 80,000 injured in just five months in Ukraine. US House speaker Kevin McCarthy had strong words for a Russian reporter who suggested that he doesn’t support US aid to Ukraine.
