US expands military presence to the Philippines in efforts to counter China

With the hope of countering aggression from China, the U.S. is beefing up its military presence in Southeast Asia by adding four bases in the Philippines. It completes the arc of U.S. alliances around China, as the Philippines borders two of the biggest potential flashpoints: Taiwan and the South China Sea.
