And always failed. 10 months into my newfound gym consistency and exercise enjoyment, I re-approached the psychological theories of behavioural change and execise enoyment with a fresh eye (and patience), and summarised the main learning points here. I hope they help explain why quitting the gym is so easy (beyond the usual suspects of laziness and self-hatred) and why quitting, in the case of exercise, might be more of a rational choice than we think.
