“El Pueblo Unido“ - Chilean Socialist Song (Yugoslav Choir)

The people, armed, will never be crushed. Flag at the start is of the Unidad Popular government, for whom the song was created. “El Pueblo Undio Jamás Será Vencido“ (The People, United, Will Never Be Defeated) is a Chilean socialist song by Quilapayún in 1970. The song was set to be used as an anthem for Salvador Allende’s Unidad Popular government, and it served as such for 3 years, before the U.S. sponsored coup overthrew the popular government and installed the fascist Pinochet dictatorship. At this point, the song took off internationally. Being translated into dozens of languages, performed by dozens of groups, the song became used to express international solidarity with Chile when it was most needed.
