The best scene, right here. Everyone involved seems almost ashamed of being in a Zatoichi movie, so they do their best to subvert and mock the franchise’s conventions. Which leads to a super “realistic“ Ichi, who barely qualifies as a competent swordsman, and who only wins any given fight by sheer happenstance.
Ignoring all that, though, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the score is breathtaking. And Ichi’s decisive move at the end there is admittedly pretty sweet.
