If you’ve ever looked at a piece of crochet and thought “I love it, but I don’t love all the holes between stitches“, then the Linked Double Crochet stitch is your new best friend.
Only a slight modification to the regular double crochet (US terminology), the double crochet stitch ’links’ all the stitches together reducing the amount of gaps in a fabric, whilst retaining the drape of the regular double crochet - making it a perfect stitch for garments and wearables.
How to: Start each row or round with one regular double crochet. Look carefully at the stitch you just made and you’ll see that the double crochet has a horizontal ’bar’ halfway up the stitch. For your linked double crochet, do NOT start the stitch with a yarn over, instead insert your hook into this horizontal bar from the previous stitch.
