ROSSINI WATCH PARTY – World Opera Day

To celebrate World Opera Day, OperaVision is hosting a watch party. This virtual get-together, on our YouTube and TikTok channels, is an invitation to those that are new to opera to discover three comic jewels by the Italian composer Gioachino Rossini - live in the company of someone who can tell you a thing or two about what is going on. OperaVision host Mia Mandineau will be your guide throughout the day, starting at 14:00 Central European Time, keeping you informed and entertained as we discover a wonderful range of comic characters - from assertive heroines to scheming tenors and foolish old men - all colourful party guests with whom to mark the day that celebrates opera across the world. She discovered that she also had a talent for summarising - in front of the camera - the librettos of masterpieces she was studying. You might have seen her on OperaVision before as she has shared brilliant introductions to some of the popular operas streamed on our platform. Thanks to her casual but informed approach, her work soon caught the eye of several opera houses and won critical praise in press. Three years after its creation and many collaborations, L’Opéra et ses Zouz became bilingual, offering videos in English and French. In 2020, in a collaboration with Le Concert de l’Hostel-Dieu, L’Opéra et ses Zouz produced a series on forgotten female baroque composers. Inspired by this new biographical format, Mia created in the same year a daily summer series on famous opera singers and young talents. In 2023, she launched a new concept, Opera Marathon, in which she watches and comments on several operas in a row while interacting with live viewers. After Mozart and Verdi, she focuses her next marathon on Rossini, live on OperaVision for World Opera Day.
