Twin Peaks in One Minute

Twin Peaks: The Return in 1 minute. Twin Peaks is a classic show. It broke ground for a lot of new ways of doing TV. David Lynch’s Eraserhead (1977) is one reason I and many of my film school pals wanted to pursue a career in film. That and Repo Man (1984) and Star Wars (1977) of course. I studied art for four years, then did film animation in grad school at UCLA. I saw a midnight screening of Eraserhead at The Nuart in LA in ’82. It was mind blowing. The idea that film could be more than classic narrative story telling was the biggest takeaway. Things be weird here. And that’s okay. I remember when Twin Peaks first came out in 1990. I was still in film school and I would always try to make it home in time for the show, even when I was shooting a movie myself, or working on a friend’s movie. It was a great show. Full imagination and mystery. The soundtrack alone is still one of the best ever. In 2017 came Twin Peaks: The Return. There was no need for it. Also no need not for it. It just is. And it was great. But to be honest, I don’t get it. As you’ll see from my short here. But it was riveting nonetheless. That’s what Lynch does best. He pulls you into a world you’ve never seen.
