Visual Evoked Potential (VEP) - can also uncover

In case you are curious, this is what a Visual Evoked Potential test screen can look like during a VEP test. I have also discovered that it can reveal scotomas if present in the field of view covered by the flashing screen. In a VEP test you’d sit about a metre away but if you want to use it to locate a scotoma and it is in your peripheral vision, you may need to come much closer (keep one eye covered) and remain focussed on yellow dot.. Scotomas appears as grey ’clouds’ devoid of any chequer pattern. Hold your finger in front of cloud and it will disappear! You cant do your own VEP test with this animation because you need to be wired up to capture its effect on the brain waves.
