In 1943, the US Marine Corps adopted a new sniper rifle. They were build with National Match (NM) and Special Target M1903s with a J. Unertl 8 power USMC-SNIPER scope. Chambered for the standard .30-06 cartridge, these rifles would see service through the Korean war and the scopes would continue to be used in to Vietnam.
