1990 Joest Racing Porsche 962C Group C Le Mans Car - Ralf Kelleners OnBoard at Mugello Classic

This fantastic 1990 Porsche 962C group C of the Joest Racing Team, chassis 962-13 (also known as chassis 962-153), is back on track again, with its original livery and number 7, at the 2023 Mugello Classic event by Peter. Precisely on this occasion, we had the pleasure of filming it, and we thank one of the two drivers, Ralf Kelleners, for providing us with his superb onboard. The car, currently owned by Yvan Vercourtere (also at the wheel in the race throughout the weekend), was entrusted to the care of the Joest Racing Team, a team that at the time had used the car in some races, one above all, the 24h of Le Mans in 1993. Ralf Juttner, known for having recently been the Audi Sport Team Joest Team Director, was also present in the Mugello pits working on the 962C. The Porsche 962 model has been very long-lived in the history of motorsport, it debuted in 1984 and ended its racing career, with the necessary developments, in 1994. The 6-cylinder flat-six Twin-Turbo engine went from 2.8 to 3.2 litres, and power varied from the initial 650 Bhp to over 730 Bhp with a monstrous torque of over 700 Nm. We remind you that the car’s weight is just over 800 Kg. Specifically, this car on the Mugello circuit did record the best lap time in race 1 (1:) and the second-best time in race 2 (1:). Enjoy! 😉 Questa fantastica Porsche 962C gruppo C del 1990 del Joest Racing Team, telaio 962-13 (conosciuta anche come chassis 962-153) è tornata nuovamente in pista, con la sua livrea originale, ed il numero 7, all’evento Mugello Classic by Peter Auto del 2023. Proprio in questa occasione abbiamo avuto il piacere di filmarla e ringraziamo uno dei due piloti, Ralf Kelleners, per averci fornito il suo splendido on-board. La vettura, attualmente posseduta da Yvan Vercourtere (anche lui al volante in gara durante tutto il week-end) è stata affidata proprio alle cure del Joest Racing Team, squadra che all’epoca aveva utilizzato l’auto in alcune gare, una su tutte, la 24h di Le Mans nel 1993. Nei box del Mugello, a lavorare sulla 962C era presente anche Ralf Juttner, conosciuto per essere stato, in tempi recenti, anche il Team Director Audi Sport Team Joest. Il modello Porsche 962, nella storia del motorsport è stato molto longevo, ha debuttato nel 1984 ed ha terminato la carriera agonistica, con i dovuti sviluppi, nel 1994. Il propulsore 6 cilindri flat-six Twin-Turbo è passato da 2.8 a così’ come la potenza variando dagli iniziali 650 Bhp agli oltre 730 Bhp con una mostruosa coppia di oltre 700 Nm. Ricordiamo che il peso dell’auto è di poco superiore agli 800 Kg. Nello specifico, questa vettura sul circuito del Mugello ha fatto registrare il miglior tempo sul giro in gara 1 (1:) ed in gara 2 il secondo miglior tempo (1:).
