Around one million of these Red Army POWs would join the German side in units such as the Russian Liberation Army (ROA) under collaborating general Andrey Vlasov. He would later establish the Russian People’s Liberation Committee (KONR). There were other units such as the SS “RONA” (Russian National Liberation Army) led by Bronislav Kaminsky.
