Israel claims deadly strike on Rafah was against ‘legitimate targets’

Israel has claimed that a strike which reportedly caused mass civilian casualties in Rafah was a ‘precise strike’ targeting two senior Hamas leaders. The strike, which hit Rafah’s Tel Al-Sultan neighborhood, is said to have killed at least 35 people and injured dozens, with the Palestinian Health Ministry reporting that the victims were mostly women and children. Footage from the scene shows the devastation caused by the strike, as fire sweeps through a refugee tent camp and badly burned survivors are pulled from the debris. The IDF has said they are ‘aware of reports’ that ‘several civilians’ were harmed in the strike, and that the ‘incident is under review.’ However, they are still insisting that the strike was ‘carried out against legitimate targets under international law.’
