Porch pirate tackled by good Samaritan

A sticky-fingered doorstep package enthusiast decided to liberate a couple of random packages from a home in Yonkers, New York. Do you know who didn’t like that? Everybody. A combination of citizenly responsibility, swift law enforcement and minor roadside violence combined to form a potent cocktail of justice and safe online shopping. Eder Mateo was caught by neighbors and a smart doorbell helping himself to a few porch packages, who immediately contacted police. In an inexplicably swift move, the police descended on the scene, and a foot chase ensued. Mateo thought his camouflaged jacket would protect him, but nothing could hide him from a responsible citizen armed with a good shoving arm and distaste for thievery. Described as a ‘Good Samaritan’ by the cops, the man darted out of his parked car right into the path of Mateo, knocking him firmly into the sidewalk and allowing the police to arrest him as roughly as the law would allow. Mateo now finally does have mail with his name on it, but it contains his day in court.
