Devil gets stoned in Saudi Arabia

Pilgrims in Mina, Saudi Arabia, have ended this year’s Hajj in the traditional way, by stoning the Devil. The symbolic stoning of the devil marks the final days of Hajj and the start of Eid al-Adha. Despite the intense summer heat, 1.8 million pilgrims gathered for the stoning, with many facing difficulties due to the temperature. Some pilgrims, especially the elderly, fainted from the heat, requiring assistance from Saudi civil defense and medics. Fourteen Jordanian pilgrims died from sunstroke during the Hajj. Pilgims collected pebbles at Muzdalifa to use in the ritual, which commemorates Ibrahim’s (or Abraham’s, as transliterated in the West) faith being tested, when God commanded him to sacrifice his son, only to stay his hand. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Freedom over censorship, truth over narrative.
