Russian defense chief inspects drone production facilities

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has visited drone production facilities in central Russia, inspecting new unmanned aircraft and materials aimed at enhancing resilience against attacks. Shoigu visited several different companies, each innovating in different areas of drone production. In Kalashnikov, one company had responded to demand by increasing output by 60%. At another, the Zala Aero drone company, he was shown new, cutting-edge composite materials that would make drones more resilient, and new designs based on experience gained in Ukraine. The visit occurred as Ukrainian rocket attacks have been increasing, especially in civilian areas. All critical infrastructure and economic facilities – oil, gas, processing facilities – must be protected with this weapon,’ Shoigu said. He also emphasized to industry leaders the need to develop further, particularly in the fields of electronic warfare and artificial intelligence.
