CCTV captures moment victims son shoots accused killer at murder trial

In 2012, Francisco Alves was at home on his farm in Lagoa Alexandre, Brazil, when a fellow farmer, Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano De Moura came visiting. De Moura was apparently looking for a donkey that had gone missing from his farm. However, Alves did not believe him. After telling De Moura to ‘get off my property, you filthy little thief,’ the two men got into a fight. Alves came at De Moura with a stick, De Moura pulled out his gun. Three warning shots later, De Moura shot Alves in the abdomen, killing him. De Moura fled, but he confessed to the crime when arrested. Twelve years later, he was finally on trial. And Alves’ son Cristiano Alves Terto had brought his own gun. As the court session got underway in November, Terto pulled out his gun, walked over to De Moura and fired six times. As the jurors, court staff and lawyers fled, Terto continued his vengeful rampage, rushing to De Moura and pistol-whipping him in the head, directly in front of the court cameras. That footage was released this month. Terto is now in ‘preventative detention’ on suspicion of attempted murder. De Moura was taken to hospital where he was pronounced alive, and is currently recovering. It is currently unclear when the trial will continue.
