Myanmar army defector say officers ordered massacres, atrocities
Since the military coup in Myanmar a year ago - there have been frequent accusations of soldiers perpetrating abuses including torture, extra judicial killings and even massacres.
Myanmar’s military has denied the claims - but the army’s reputation has fallen dramatically.
Al Jazeera has interviewed a dissident army officer in exile who revealed the Myanmar army’s tactics of mass torture and abuse targeting ethnic groups.
He also revealed how the army is brainwashing its soldiers and controlling every aspect of their lives, from their finances to their thoughts.
Al Jazeera’s Tony Cheng reports from the Thai-Myanmar border.
