Rock & Rule - Angel’s song [Blondie/Debbie Harry vocals]

Sequence from the Rock & Rule animated feature film produced by Nelvana and released in the mid 1980s. This is an early sequence featuring Mok’s visit to Mylar’s club in search of the “special voice“ he needs to carry out his maniacal plans to be the world’s greatest rock star. He’s occulted to heighten the illusion of his mystery as he watches Angel sing in her magical voice. And what a voice! Great singing by the one and only Debbie Harry (Blondie ) sets off Mok’s special ring telling him he’s found what he’s looking for. This was done as traditional pre-computer cel-animation (early 1980s). All the effects were done optically with some help from Industrial Light and Magic where just off doing the first Star Wars movie at the time. Animation layouts and posing by Verne Andru.
