Led Zeppelin - Chicago 1973 Soundcheck

As requested by Z, here is a soundcheck Zeppelin performed prior to a concert (most likely) in Chicago on their 1973 North American tour. The consensus is that this soundcheck took place on July 6th, prior to the first Chicago show that kicked off the second leg of the tour, although there has been some debate amongst Zeppelin fans over the date. In particular, Plant’s voice sounds remarkably stronger here than it did at the concert later that night. I suppose it could be that he merely blew out his voice but it’s still odd just how drastically different he sounds here. Regardless of when and where this took place, it’s a great document of the band rehearsing for the tour, and features them jamming on oldies as well as a few songs of their own which were rarely if ever performed live. The tape is somewhat hissy and flat but otherwise clear. 0:00 Sugar Baby take 1 (cut) 3:22 Sugar Baby take 2 (cut) 5:09 Jam/The Wanton Song 8:14 The Rover take 1 13:52 The Rover take 2 w/jam 20:25 Night Flight take 1 (cut) 21:43 Night Flight take 2 22:12 Night Flight take 3 23:56 Night Flight take 4 27:34 School Days 30:22 Nadine 31:26 Round and Round 35:05 Move On Down the Line 37:54 Please Don’t Tease 40:27 Move It (C’mon Pretty Baby) 42:19 Dynamite 43:31 Shaking All Over 46:41 Hungry For Love 48:51 I’ll Never Get Over You 51:15 Reeling and Rocking 52:47 Surrender 53:25 Drum/Tympani/Organ Test Bootleg: 1st gen DAT CDR
