Michael Ballack retires, rejecting A-League option

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has announced his retirement from professional football. The 36-year-old was without a club after his release from German side Bayer Leverkusen at the end of last season, and had been linked with a move to the Australian A League. But the former Germany captain has decided to hang up his boots instead brining and end to a 15 year career.
