1956 Johnny Burnette Trio - The Train Kept A-Rollin’
The group was also sometimes known as “The Rock and Roll Trio.” Though it did not make the national charts, this regional hit is considered an early rock ‘n roll classic. It’s a wild reworking of the 1951 Tiny Bradshaw song which featured brothers Johnny and Dorsey Burnette and guitarist Paul Burlison (though some believe that Nashville session great Grady Martin was the actual player of the distorted guitar on this recording). Johnny and Dorsey would find success as solo performers during the early 1960s.
