2022 VW Multivan T7 debuts with more versatility and hybrid power We’ve literally seen the next generation Volkswagen T7s in development for years. The wait is largely over, as VW’s beloved all-rounder van for everything from entrepreneurs to adventurous campers is now official. That is, it’s official in Multivan form, anyway. The Transporter is still waiting behind the scenes, but for now say hello to the 2022 VW T7 Multivan. Arguably the biggest novelty of the next-gen minivan is its next-gen powertrain. For the first time, the Multivan receives a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Called eHybrid, it combines a TSI engine with an 85 kW electric motor to generate a total of 215 horsepower (160 kilowatts). A 13 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery is mounted low under the floor of the pickup truck with the charging port located on the right side. VW does not yet have any statistics for electric-only speed or range, instead telling us that the Multivan is capable of short city trips. T
