Up to 33 mm of precipitation fell by sunrise. Over the next 24 hours, the band of storms will move further east across the interior of New South Wales and Victoria and could become severe, causing damaging gusts of wind with flash flooding. Heavy rain is the result of cold air over WA moving eastward, encountering unseasonably high temperatures and humidity. This caused a streak of rain and thunderstorms that stretched over 1,000 kilometers from the Queensland border to Bass Strait.
