Senator Hassan Questions FTC Commissioners

Senator Maggie Hassan during a U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation subcommittee hearing, questioned commissioners at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about the FTC’s oversight of deceptive marketing practices, particularly for opioids. The deceptive and fraudulent marketing of OxyContin by Purdue Pharma, which intentionally misled the public for over a decade about the drug’s potential for abuse and addictive impacts, is thought to have played a large role in starting the devastating opioid
