North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has apologised for the killing of a South Korean official at sea. The incident sparked a huge backlash in Seoul. The rare apology was relayed through a letter to South Korean President Moon Jae-in. In it, Mr Kim expressed regret for the killing and called it an “unexpected and disgraceful event“.
